Y the Last Man

One of the first comic series I was introduced to was Y the Last Man written by Brian K Vaughan,  published by Vertigo and ran from 2002 to 2008. Reading it in 2012 meant that I did not have to wait for the monthly single issues to come out. I got to read the trade paperbacks, Rudy has trained me in the difference between graphic novels and TPBs.
I throughly enjoyed the story of Yorik who is possibly the last man left on earth after all the other males have seemed to be killed by the plague, except for him and a monkey named Ampersand. Yorik is intent on finding his girlfriend who was last known to be in Australia. The comic follows him on his, mostly, misadventures as he tries to reunite with his lost love is this now women run world.
After the first book I was hooked, I loved the stories and all the characters. It was nice to see so many strong women characters that stood for what they believed in. It was hard to put these books down and I felt strong connections to each of the characters. There were many surprises and most of the time I could not figure out what would happen next, I was always eager to keep reading. It was a really well thought out and written story. I would recommend this to anyone, seriously I cannot think of anyone who would not like this story.
I am excited that Vertigo's sister company, New Line Cinema, has the film rights for the film adaptation.  Since2007 it is said to have screenwriter Carl Ellsworth and Director D.J. Caruso, both behind Disturbia, on board for a possible trilogy. Y the Last man is definitely worthy of a trilogy and it seems the only way all the awesomeness of the story could be documented.

Here is a great Y the Last Man fan film from  IGN's YouTube channel

UPDATE 1/24/2013:
As of January 2013 Dan Trachtenberg (Portal:No Escape and Kickin') has been announced as the  director.

Our Babies

The most important things in our lives are our babies; Keika, Boots, Ziggy and PeeWee.

 Keika Marie
Age: 7
Nicknames: Keikachu, Keeks, KiKi, Keika Myonesa
She was our first cat and  we adopted her from the shelter. She is very prissy and spoiled she is definitely the princess
 of the house.
Boots
Age: Unknown
Nicknames: Bootsy, Boos, Boobies, Bootsecai
He was the first cat to adopt us. He is very shy but LOVES pets he is always begging for more and more pets.
Ziggy Stardust
Age: Unknown
Nicknames: Ziggs, Zigby, ZigZags
is the second cat to adopt us, one day he just ran in the house and went to sleep on the bed and that was it he was now our cat. He has quite the attitude and is very vocal, He loves to cuddle and be on shoulders. He can be a big jerk at times but he is really a sweetheart and loves everyone.

 PeeWee
Age: Unkown
Nicknames: NONE
He was the neighborhood bully that eventually got picked up and neutered by animal control. After that he was not the same old bully, except with Boots he has something against poor Boots, he is now very friendly and loves attention. He is a huge cat that could be confused for a bulldog. He loves to sleep and any chance he can slip into the house he does and finds a couch or bed to sleep on for as long as he can.

Introductions

The human parts of this operation are Rudy and Camey Guzman. Rudy has been a long time comic lover who has recently rediscovered his desire for comic books. He is once again a regular at the store and whenever he stops into the shop he is  greeted with smiles and friendly banter. I on the other hand am pretty much just along for the ride and have a mild interest in comics, maybe reading a few here and there. Of course they are usually Rudy's recommendations or anything he has a first issue of laying around. When it comes to toys though, it's hard to say who wins there, we both enjoy blind boxes and collecting other toys that we find in shops or at the fleamarket.
Then there are our cats, Keika, Ziggy Stardust, Boots and our newest addition Pee Wee. We are pretty cat obsessed and they are truly our children. I am sure they will show up alot in this blog.
I will likely be doing most of the writing but it will be a collaboration between me and Rudy,  about our adventures with cats, comics and toys and other cool things.
